Denver, Colo.----- Finlay Wood, who completed his freshman season as a midfielder on the 2017 San Jose State University men's soccer team, was named to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) All-Academic team.
To qualify for Academic All-WAC honors, a student-athlete must complete one year at the four-year institution, have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
Wood, from Newport, Wales, played in all 21 games and was a starter 15 times for the Spartan team that reached the conference tournament championship game after defeating #12-ranked Air Force, 1-0, in a semifinal round match. His one goal scored for the season came in the WAC Tournament quarterfinal round 2-0 win over UT-Rio Grand Valley.
Wood is the third San Jose State men's soccer player to earn Academic All-WAC honors for the 2017 season. Earlier in the year, sophomore Jeff Dukes and junior Jonathan Partida were named to the 2017 Academic All-WAC team for men's soccer.
