Kaitlin Won Nominated for 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award

Indianapolis, Ind.- San José State University women's gymnast Kaitlin Won has been nominated by the institution for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Won competed for four years on the women's gymnastics team. She won the 2018 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-around title and competed at the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional as a bars specialist. Won was a first team All-MPSF honoree on bars and in the all-around and helped the Spartans to back-to-back MPSF Championships.

Academically, Won graduated in May with a degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise and rehabilitation sciences. She is a three-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar, Dean's Scholar and NACGC/W Scholastic All-American

In the 28th year of the program, a record 581 women from 20 difference sports were nominated by their institution for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award including 251 from Division I schools. The Woman of the Year Award, established in 1991, focuses on four pillars - academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

The Top 30 honorees, to be announced in August, will be celebrated and the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the annual award ceremony October 28, in Indianapolis.
