A versatile defensive back in 2000, Willie returns as a cornerback for San Jose State in 2001. After winning the free safety job in his first spring with the team, Adams eventually was a starter at free safety and cornerback by the end of the season. He was one of three Spartans to intercept three passes a year ago and the first Spartan in four years to return an interception for a touchdown when he raced 63 yards for a score in the win at Stanford. With a knack for being around the football, Adams shared the team lead in fumble recoveries with two and was third on the team in pass break-ups with seven. His 53 tackles is second most among returning players.

Willie joined the San Jose State team in the spring of 2000 after earning all-conference honors twice at Citrus College (Coach John Rome). He was a second-team safety in 1998 and an honorable mention pick as a freshman. The graduate of Duarte (Calif.) High School lettered in football and track and field. His closest friend on the team is Charles Pauley, a teammate since high school. Willie was born on July 12, 1979.
