Fifteen of the 17 Spartans earned Academic All-WAC recognition for at least the second time. Gymnast Leah Bigelow, a journalism major from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and swimmer Amanda Carr, a history major from Riverside, Calif., earned their fourth Academic All-WAC honor in four seasons.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade-point average, participated in at least 50 percent of a team’s contests for the season and completed at last one academic year at the university.

During the 2007-08 academic year, 54 San Jose State student-athletes from 10 fall and winter sports teams earned academic all-conference recognition from the Western Athletic Conference and the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

Additional 2007-08 student-athletes from the Spartans’ fall and winter sports will join these student-athletes as academic all-conference honorees once they complete the 2008 spring semester for a full year of residency at San Jose State University.
