Mike may have finally found a role on the Spartan football team as an outside linebacker. An H-back at the start of 2001, Liranzo was moved to linebacker in midseason. He stayed on defense the rest of the season and throughout spring practice. As a special teams defender a year ago, he was credited with six tackles. The third-year Spartan joined the team in 2000 as a successful walk-on from Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, Calif., and spent the season as a redshirt. The three-sport letter winner was a two-time all-league football football selection and a sprinter on the track and field team. Liranzo is interested in pursuing a career in forensic psychology or with the F.B.I. Mike was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on May 29, 1981.
