43 Student-Athletes Receive Academic All-WAC Honors
Spartans from spring sports as well as freshmen and transfers were honored by the Western Athletic Conference. For the 2009-10 school year, 100 San Jose State student-athletes earned Academic All-WAC recognition.
DENVER – Continuing to excel in the classroom, 43 San Jose State University student-athletes from baseball, softball, men’s golf, women’s golf, softball and women’s tennis along with freshmen and transfers received Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honors for the 2009-10 school year.
Baseball led all spring sports with seven honorees including ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team honoree Karson Klauer. Softball followed behind with four, followed by women’s golf with three and men’s golf and women’s tennis with two each.
Overall, 100 San Jose State student-athletes received Academic All-WAC honors during the past school year. Five teams had 10 or more recipients – 13 each for women’s cross country, football and women’s swimming and diving, 12 for women’s soccer and 10 for volleyball.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests. The following is a list of the spring sport honorees:
