Rufus joins the Spartans this fall as a wide receiver hopeful. Skillern is a graduate from Skyline High School in Oakland, Calif., where he lettered in football (Coach John Beam) and baseball. He was an all-league selection in both sports. In addition, he was named to the Oakland Tribune’s “Cream of the Crop” list for area high school football players in 2000. Rufus, a native of Oakland, was born on May 12, 1982.
