A COMMITMENT TO CAREER DEVELOPMENT

SJSU Athletics takes pride in the fact that a majority of our student-athletes are able to leave our University with the skills necessary to obtain jobs in areas of interest to them. The following areas provide such additional learning opportunities:

Career Development Center
As our student-athletes prepare for graduation, the CDC can help them prepare for the initial job search. Our students can be advised of potential job opportunities.

CHAMPS Job Board
SJSU Athletics provides an opportunity within the department where local businesses, who are in search of student-athletes as possible employees, can post information pertaining to available positions within their companies.

Resume Building Program
This program assists our student-athletes in structuring their own experiences into a working resume. It also provides mock interviews with local business people and feedback sessions, which can aid our student-athletes in identifying their strengths and weaknesses.

5th Year Scholarship Program
To aid in the transition of once being a student-athlete to becoming a student who has exhausted their eligibility, this program provides "former" student-athletes a chance to gain work experience while still maintaining their scholarship.

Financial Planning Seminars
As our upperclassmen are preparing to graduate, local financial consultants help educate our students on the importance of investing wisely. It's never too early to begin planning for retirement. This seminar supplies general/basic information on investing in stocks/bonds, IRA accounts and 401K-403B retirement plans.
