Athletic Performance
In November 2001, the Koret Athletic Training Center, a major cornerstone of "The Campaign for Student-Athletes...Building a Proud Future," opened at San Jose State University. The Koret Athletic Training Center is a state-of-the-art facility that encompasses over 10,000 square-feet of training space.
The Koret Athletic Training Center also contains a 1,000 square-foot rehabilitation and training room that services physical therapy and sports specific rehabilitation. The facility enables the sports medicine staff of athletic trainers, doctors, surgeons, specialists and physical therapists to provide the best possible care to help prevent and rehabilitate injuries.
The primary objective of the strength and conditioning program at the San Jose State University is to achieve the maximal level of performance of each student-athlete through an aggressive approach to comprehensive training. Utilizing an array of disciplines, Spartan Strength and Conditioning focuses on developing the athlete in a systematic and progressive fashion.
Working closely with Spartan Sports Medicine, each student-athlete is thoroughly evaluated upon their arrival as a freshman to identify any movement issues. Once a clear picture of each Spartan is complete, training begins. A competing Spartan can expect to be integrated into a year-round training schedule that will last throughout his/her career.
