Athletics Announces New Partnership With Coca-Cola

San Jose State University Athletics and Spartan Sports Properties are proud to announce an agreement with Coca-Cola to become the official soft drink of Spartan Athletics. The deal is part of the new pouring rights agreement at Spartan Stadium.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose State University Athletics and Spartan Sports Properties are proud to announce an agreement with Coca-Cola to become the official soft drink of Spartan Athletics. The deal is part of the new pouring rights agreement at Spartan Stadium.

The new contract allows Coke products to be served at Spartan Stadium and includes a marketing relationship which will help fund the Athletic Department.

“As part of our commitment to build a culture of champions at San Jose State we strive to create partnerships with top companies both locally and on a national level,” Director of Athletics Tom Bowen said.  “We’re excited to welcome Coke and its legendary brand and image to Spartan Athletics and Spartan Stadium.”

Beginning with this Saturday’s football home opener against Stanford, bottled Coke products, including Dasani water and Sprite, will be available to fans throughout Spartan Stadium at an increased number of concession areas. Also part of the new pouring rights deal with Coke, Powerade will now be used on the sidelines of Spartan Athletics and will also be available to fans in Spartan Stadium.

“We are truly excited about the partnership we have developed with the San Jose State Spartans and look forward to being able to offer our products to fans throughout Spartan Stadium.” Cold Drink Market Unit Manager Northern California Chris Ackerson said.  “We are confident that our relationship will be one that will allow both Coke and the Spartans to be part of a winning team.”

Spartan Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Sports and the exclusive multi-media and sports marketing sales arm of San Jose State, negotiated the deal with Coca-Cola Enterprises Bottling Company on behalf of San Jose State Athletics.  The deal extends only to Spartan Stadium and does not include other facilities that remain under the umbrella of the current San Jose State campus pouring rights agreement.

The September 9 home opener against Stanford at Spartan Stadium is part of a historic seven-game home season for Spartan Football.  Season tickets are available by calling 1-877-SJSU-TIX or by visiting www.sjsuspartans.com
