Athletics Thanks Steve Gossett For Years Of Service

After 32 years of faithful service that included a stint as President of the Spartan Foundation, Spartan Foundation Board of Directors and Spartan Foundation Executive Board membership, and the Spartan Foundation’s representative to the San Jose State University Athletics Board, Steve Gossett is stepping down.

According to Director of Athletics, Tom Bowen: “Steve Gossett embodies the true resolve and stalwart spirit of a Spartan.  From the moment I accepted the Athletic Director’s position, (Steve) was right there to offer support and guidance in our efforts to build a Culture of Champions at San Jose State.  Steve helped a small band of Spartan faithful persevere through the good, bad, and ugly and shares much credit for the ongoing renaissance of this department.”

Ken McDonald, Executive Director of the Spartan Foundation, shared that: “Every vibrant, successful organization needs individuals with that special spark of creativity, a stick-to-it attitude, and the confidence to express opinions for the good of the group.  Couple these qualities with an abiding love for Spartan sports, a superb historical perspective, and an extraordinary ability to throw a quality tailgate party and you’ve described Steve Gossett’s contribution to the Spartan Foundation!”  McDonald went on to share his gratification that Gossett, even though stepping down from his official duties, will remain an avid Spartan fund-raiser and proponent of Spartan Athletics.

Please join Spartan Athletics and the Spartan Foundation in offering best wishes and thanks to Steve Gossett for 32 years of exemplary service to all of Sparta!
