Baseball Defeats Hawai'i-Hilo 4-2
HILO, Hawai'i (March 31)-- San Jose State scored two runs on a seventh-inning error to defeat Hawai'i-Hilo, 4-2, Friday night in a Western Athletic Conference game.
Brian Stream singled, Ryan Brucker walked and Junior Ruiz was hit by a pitch to load the bases. After a double play, Tony Tognetti's ground ball to the shortstop was misplayed, scoring Brucker and Ruiz to put SJSU in front 4-2.
The Spartans took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on John Fagan's two-run double. Hawai'i-Hilo tied the score in the third.
Gary Patchett had two hits in the game.
Joey Baker pitched his fourth complete game of the season, improving to 5-4. He allowed six hits, struck out eight and walked three.
The Spartans now stand at 20-10 overall, 7-4 in the WAC. The series concludes this afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. (HST) game in Kona, Hawai'i.
