California Keeps a One Shot Lead After Day Two of the Spartan Invitational, Spartans Drop to Seventh Place

New Mexico State made a surge at first place today, shooting a 291 for a total of 590, one shot behind California. Washington shot three-under as a team for the day’s low score of 285. The Huskies are tied with Pepperdine for third place. Three Husky players shot under-par rounds – Louise Friberg at 69, Paige Mackenzie at 70 and Kelli Kamimura at 71.
South Carolina’s Kristy McPherson was one of three golfers to shoot a 69 on Tuesday. She leads the individual standings with a 4-under 140, three shots better than Mikaela Parmlid of USC and Lindsay Wright of Pepperdine who each are at 143 for their two-day total.
San Jose State improved one shot on Tuesday by shooting a 300 for a two-day total of 601. Marcela Leon again led the Spartans with a 73 and a two-day total of 146, tying for ninth place in the individual standings. Ashley Gomes shot a 74 for 150, Helle Gram shot a 76 for 152, Nicole Deacon shot 77 for 155 and Rebecka Heinmert shot 81 for 157.
The final round tees off at 8 a.m. Wednesday. The Spartans will be in the first group off of #1.
