Pat's Run

COMMUNITY RELATIONS  Pat's Run   April 29th 2007

This year will be the second year that the Pat Tillman foundation brought Pat’s Run to San Jose. And after a very successful first year, the foundation was definitely excited to bring the run back into the bay area. Staff, coaches, and student-athletes from the San Jose State University were part of a team of volunteers to help uphold Pat’s legacy and what he believed in.

The Pat Tillman Foundation was created to carry out Pat’s legacy by inspiring young individuals to promote a positive change in themselves and the world around them (Pat Tillman Foundation).

“A person in life is just like those old Galleons back in the day...you stick it out in the ocean and if you just let it sit there without a rudder it’s going to go wherever the wind blows it...the wind’s going to blow it here and it may end up somewhere good or it may end up somewhere bad...but wherever it goes it’s not up to itself. Whereas if you’ve got a rudder, no matter what way the wind is blowing...it could be blowing in the complete opposite direction...if you know where you are going...it may take you awhile but eventually you are going to get there.” Pat Tillman

Sunday, April 29, the SJSU student-athletes from football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming & diving, softball team volunteered at this year’s Pat’s Run at Leland High School. In the very early morning, staff, coaches, and student-athletes came out to show their support by shouting out words of encouragement, helping participants stay on course, and handing out water as the participants finished across the 42-yard line.
