Finding the best place to use Ethan's football skills has been a
work-in-progress at San Jose State. Allen's latest move is to a defensive
end position. Now in his second season with the Spartans, Allen has played
as a tight end, an inside linebacker and briefly as an outside linebacker
before settling in full-time as a defensive end in 2002 spring practice.
One of several starters at inside linebacker last season, his best game
came in the Tulsa victory where he was credited with six tackles, two pass
break-ups and scored the Spartans' only defensive touchdown of the season
on a 69-yard interception return.
A 2000 California Community College first-team all-state tight end, he
caught 34 passes for 662 yards and five touchdowns at Diablo Valley College
(Coach Ralph De Pew). As a freshman at Diablo Valley College in 1997, he
was an all-conference selection. Between 1998 and the 2000 seasons, he was
a construction worker and then missed the 1999 season due to injuries
suffered in an automobile accident. The graduate of Rancho Cotati High
School in Rohnert Park, Calif., was a two-year letterwinner in football
(Coach Ed Conroy) who received honorable mention all-league honors as a
senior. He hopes to use his education as an entry way into the
entertainment business. Ethan was born in Walnut Creek, Calif., on June 8,
1978.
