Fall Junior Spartan Clinic
Nov. 11, 2006
November 11, marked the first Junior Spartan Clinic of the 2006-2007 Academic Year. Student-athletes from the Baseball, Women's Golf, Men's Soccer, Softball, and Waterpolo team arrived early Saturday morning ready to show young Junior Spartans different techniques for each sport. Each student-athlete showed up with smiles on their faces ready to assist and share their athletic knowledge with the Junior Spartans.
One of the soul purpose's for the clinic is to serve the youth of the community by teaching good sportsmanship in a self improving enviroment. Introducing the children to San Jose State Athletics through coach and player involvement will help instill the importance of a college education in a non competitive setting.
The Junior Spartan Members were able to go to each of the following stations:
-Women's Golf: the student-athletes showed the Junior Spartan Members how to hold the club, how to swing, and how to hit the ball.
-Men's Soccer: Junior Spartans were taught how to kick, dribble, and block the soccer ball.
-Softball and Baseball: : the student-athletes introduced how to pitch, hit, and catch the ball.
The next Junior Spartan Clinic will be held, April 14th, the morning of the Spring Football Game. Nine San Jose State Athletic Teams will be in attendance, and all Junior Spartans or any child 12 years of age or younger are welcome.
