Gala Spartan football fund-raiser features NFL stars past and present

"Promoting Higher Education through Athletics" is the theme of "Coach Fitz Hill's Spartan Unifying Gala Affair - Pulling It All Together," Saturday, April 20, at the Santa Clara Decathlon Club.

National Football League Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow, who serves as a college football analyst for Fox Sports, is the host for the event.

Hill, one of three Division I-A head football coaches with a doctoral degree, will be the featured speaker.

Spartan greats Jeff Garcia, a two-time Pro Bowl quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, and Gerald Willhite, a 1982 first-round draft choice of the Denver Broncos, will be in attendance. Garcia played at San Jose State from 1991 through 1993. Willhite was on the 1980 and 1981 Spartan teams.

Dinner entertainment will be provided by "The Legendary California Malibus and Revue."

A 6:00 p.m. cocktail hour precedes a 7:00 p.m. dinner and program.
