Gambling: DON’T DO IT!
It is impermissible per NCAA rules and illegal for any Athletic Department staff (i.e. coaches, administrators, volunteers, interns, graduate assistants, work study's, part-time help, student-athletes) to be involved in any type of gambling activity that involves intercollegiate or professional athletic events. This includes, but is not limited to the following activities:
provide information to individuals involved in gambling activities concerning intercollegiate athletics ("inside information");
- solicit a bet on any intercollegiate team;
- accept a bet on any team representing the institution; or
- participate IN ANY MANNER of gambling activity that involves intercollegiate athletics or professional athletics, through a bookmaker, a "runner" (intermediary), a parlay card, or any other method.
This means that it is impermissible to participate in any type of "pool" that involves intercollegiate athletics or professional teams (which might include, but is not limited to, a pool at your spouse's place of work, a pool at another institution, a pool being run by close friends).
In addition, any type of gambling on the Internet that involves intercollegiate athletics or professional athletic events is impermissible. This includes FANTASY FOOTBALL leagues.
Finally, departmental members and student-athletes are responsible to report to the Director of Athletics any activity or even the suspicion that a staff member or student athlete may be involved with illegal gambling activity.
