Halsey Named Assistant AD For Compliance

Christine Halsey has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance.

Christine Halsey has been hired as Assistant Athletics Director / Compliance at <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>San JoseStateUniversity, announced Director of Athletics Tom Bowen. Halsey had most recently served as the Director of Compliance for the West Coast Conference (WCC).<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

Halsey will oversee all areas of San JoseState’s NCAA compliance operations, including, but not limited to, rules education for coaches and staff, interpretations and National Letter-of-Intent programs.

 

“We are very excited to have Christine join our family here at San JoseState,” said Bowen. “Her experience and integrity will be an asset to our department as we continue to enhance the experience for our student-athletes.”

 

In October 2007, Halsey was named the Director of Compliance at the WCC, where she had previously spent one year as a Championships and Marketing Assistant.  In this capacity, she directed the league's compliance efforts, which included managing the Special Assistance Fund (SAF) and Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund (SAOF).  She also created the WCC Green Team and managed the WCC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

 

From 2004-07, she served as the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and the Senior Woman Administrator at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), where she managed the league’s compliance, oversaw the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and served a two-year term on the NCAA Division II Cross Country and Track & Field committee.

 

Prior to her time at the CCAA, Halsey was an Athletic Event Manager at Stanford University from 2002-04, and led the community relations efforts for the USA Track & Field Local Organizing Committee in 2003.

 

Additionally, Halsey has worked as a freelance graphics operator for the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, Golden State Warriors, Seattle Mariners, Seattle SuperSonics, Seattle Storm, KOMO 4 News in Seattle, and at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a 2005 graduate of the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement.

 

Halsey competed in cross country and track & field at VanderbiltUniversity, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies in 1998. She received All-Southeastern Conference honors in cross country in 1997, and served as team co-captain for the Commodores from 1997-98. She earned her master’s degree in sport management at the University of San Francisco.

 

Halsey and her husband, Brad, reside in Mountain View.
