John TwiningSenior Associate Athletics Director

John Twining is in his first year as senior associate athletics director of administration at San Jose State University.

Twining, who has 21 years of college athletics administration experience, spent the past four years as an assistant athletics director for administration and finance at West Virginia University. He was the department's chief financial officer for the administration of a $22-million annual budget and a $10-million facility expansion project.

He began his athletics administration career at Southern Methodist University in 1978 and was the assistant athletics director for business affairs for 10 year. Twining moved to Colorado State in 1988 as the assistant athletics director for business for seven years before moving to West Virginia University.

Recognized by his peers forexcellence in administering the business operations of a major college athletics program, he was selected the 1995 College Athletic Business Manager of the Year. He served as president of the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) in 1996. Twining is a 1964 graduate of the University of Maryland. He earned his master's degree in public administration from his alma mater in 1966.
