The Junior Spartans Club and CHAMPS is sponsoring the Coaches Carving Contest at this Saturday’s football game against Boise State. All San Jose State head coaches and Athletics Director Chuck Bell have carved foam pumpkins for the contest.

In this head-to-head contest, raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each. With each ticket bought, you can vote for your favorite pumpkin and have a chance to win that pumpkin. For example, if you like the women’s soccer pumpkin, you can purchase $5 worth of tickets and place them all that pumpkin’s voting box for five chances to win the pumpkin. Tickets will be sold from 12 p.m. to the end of halftime. Voting boxes will have one winning ticket selected at the time, and that person will win the pumpkin.

All Junior Spartans who stop by the Pumpkin Painting Party will receive one free raffle ticket to vote for his or her favorite.

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE TOP VOTE-GETTER? The Spartan head coaches can be quite a competitive group ON and OFF the field !! The main pumpkin display will be located at the north end-zone gate, to the east of the ramp on the main concourse.

There are two other "celebrity" pumpkin carvers - in a "Guess Who Carved This Pumpkin" contest. Participants will be asked to vote on who did this pumpkin. Is it University Police Chief Ric Abeyta, SJSU Alumni Association Executive Director Fred Najjar, President Robert L. Caret, Marching Band Director Scott Pierson, Spartan Radio Announcer Mike Chisholm, or Silicon Valley Football Classic Executive Director Chuck Shelton. There are two pumpkins, eight candidates and two "I don't know, I just want to win the pumpkin" boxes located on the east and west gate entrances.

The Junior Spartans and CHAMPS will share the revenue from the contest after all expenses are paid. The coaches will receive one-third of the money that their pumpkin raises.
