Looking for a breakthrough, Lamar Arbet is a defensive end candidate this
season. After redshirting in 2000, he did not see any game action in 2001.
The third-year Spartan came to San Jose State after earning first-team
all-league and all-area honors at Brookside Christian High School (Coach
Booker Guyton) in Stockton, Calif. As a senior, he led all Stockton area
prep players in quarterback sacks with 16 in 10 games during the 1999
season. Coming from a football family, Lamarr's dad, Darren Arbet, is in
his fourth season as the head coach of the two-time Western Division
champion San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League. One of his
cousins is University of Southern California defensive back Kevin Arbet.
Lamarr, a Stockton native, was born on April 9, 1982.
