Liz Jarnigan Adds Senior Woman Administrator Role

San Jose, Calif.-----Liz Jarnigan, a member of the San Jose State University athletics administrative staff since 2008, has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success Services/Senior Woman Administrator.

San Jose, Calif.-----Liz Jarnigan, a member of the San Jose State University athletics administrative staff since 2008, has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success Services/Senior Woman Administrator. Tom Bowen, the Spartans' director of athletics, made the announcement.

Jarnigan came to San Jose State originally as the Director for Student-Athlete Success Services. In June 2009, she was promoted to an Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success Services with responsibilities that included compliance, academics, student services, life skills, student-athlete advising and tutoring and the assignment of learning specialists.

"We have a number of very talented administrators in our department. This is an opportunity to advance one of our bright and talented leaders in Liz Jarnigan professionally and have her contribute to San Jose State athletics on a larger scale," says Bowen.

"This has been a professional goal of mine for sometime. I've been involved in college athletics my whole life. I'm eager to implement my experiences and interests to help San Jose State University athletics continue growing," says Jarnigan, who held a number of administrative positions in the University of Tulsa's athletics department from 2001 to 2008.

Her professional career began at Briar Cliff College where she was an Assistant Athletics Director (1994-96) and Interim Director of Athletics (1996).

The 1987 graduate cum laude of St. Olaf College received her master's degree in athletic administration from Fort Hays University in 1988.

A four-year letterwinner for the St. Olaf women's volleyball team, she coached the Bethel College (1989-94), Briar Cliff College (1994-96) and Carleton College (1996-99) women's volleyball teams.
