Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Oct. 21, 2006

Student-athletes made strides for a good cause the third weekend in October participating in the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer”, walk. Student-athletes and coaches from women’s gymnastics, women’s basketball and softball donated their free time to take part in the walk.

Student-athletes in their Spartan T-Shirts walked five miles around Speedway Meadow in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. It was a great success as the teams made the finish line exhausted but ecstatic about their contributions to women and men who fight breast cancer around the nation. Our Student-Athletes were part of the 21,000 individuals who volunteered their time. The Bay Area raised over $ 1,560,000 to help the fight against breast cancer.
