Men's golf recruit wins Colombian Junior National Championship

Bogota, Colombia-----Alejandro Prieto, who signed a National Letter-of-Intent in April to attend San Jose State University this fall and participate on the men’s golf team, recently won the 2002 Colombian Junior National Championship.

A match-play competition, Prieto was the number-one qualifier in the 17-under tournament with a 137 for 36 holes at the Club Hato Grande golf course. He was victorious in five match play competitions and beat Carlos Arenas, 1-up, in a 36-hole championship match by notching birdies on the final two holes.

Prieto’s next major summer tournament is the annual Junior World tournament in San Diego next month.
