Pete & Marilyn Silva, long-time and dedicated advocates of San Jose State University, are the 2002 Tower Award honorees. The couple will be recognized for their contributions to the university at the annual awards ceremony, Saturday, May 4, in the Student Union’s Barrett Ballroom. A reception hour begins at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and a program to follow at 7:00 p.m.
"The Tower Award is the highest honor bestowed by the university, and I am excited that Pete and Marilyn Silva will be this year’s honorees," said San Jose State University President Dr. Robert L. Caret.
The Silvas graduated from San Jose State in 1956. Pete Silva served a two-year term as president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors from July 1986 through June 1988 and a two-year term as president of the Spartan Foundation from January 1996 through December 1997. For many years, Mr. & Mrs. Silva have volunteered their time on the Alumni Association and Spartan Foundation annual auctions. Mr. Silva always is among the top fund raisers each year during the Spartan Foundation fund drive.
