QB Club Opens Year With Luncheon

Four coaches spoke at the first QB Club meeting of the year.

The 2008 Spartan Football season kicked off Monday with the Quarterback Club lunch at the new corporate sponsor for the Spartans - the Wyndham Hotel in downtown <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>San Jose.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

The program included remarks and a question and answer period from Spartan’s Football top brass.  Coach Dick Tomey talked about the upcoming season, the game against UC Davis, and also took questions.

Defensive Coordinator, Keith Burns, also in attendance, told the more than sixty assembled about the defense and gave the QBC members in attendance inside information about the upcoming game and what to look for from the defense this year.

Co-offensive coordinators Steve Morton and Marcus Arroyo talked about the offensive line, the quarterbacks, the offensive philosophy, and approach that the Spartans will employ this year.

"This was the first time that we have had a Quarterback Club lunch at the Wyndham and it was great," said QB Club President Dave Donahue. "The food was good and hearing that information from the Coaches, offensively and defensively, was something that we have not had in a long time.  It really gave the people in the room some new insight to the game and the way the Spartans will play this year.   It was great.”

One of the highlights of the lunch was the drawing in which those in attendance won official Spartan Athletic gear.  The drawing’s grand prize was a pair of sideline passes for the UC Davis game on August 30.  Please note: great seats are still available.

The Quarterback Club is the San Jose State Football booster group.  To join the Quarterback club, please contact the Spartan Foundation Office at 408.924.1218.
