Richard Stern Joins Sports Information Office
Returning to his alma mater, Stern will be part of the team publicizing all 16 intercollegiate teams at San Jose State.
San Jose-Returning to his alma mater, Richard Stern has been named the assistant sports information director at San Jose State University. Stern will be responsible for the publicity of the women's swimming and diving and baseball teams for 2010-11.
Stern spent two years working in the San Jose State sports information department while finishing coursework towards his bachelor of science degree in journalism that he received in 2009. He was the primary contact for women's soccer and softball while assisting with cross country, women's basketball and tennis.
For the past 15 months, Stern was the assistant sports information director at Humboldt State. He worked with men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, women's rowing and softball while at the school.
Stern started in the sports information field as a student volunteer at Northern Arizona before entering the private sector as a non-profit fundraiser for almost 20 years. He returned to college, finishing his degree at San Jose State.
A native of San Diego, Stern enjoys cycling and other outdoor activities in his leisure time.
