Rogelstad Named First WAC Pitcher of the Week for the 2002 Season

SAN JOSE, Calif.San Jose State right-handed pitcher Jeremy Rogelstad was named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of Jan. 28 to Feb. 3. The honor was announced today by the conference office in Denver, Colo.

SAN JOSE, Calif.—San Jose State right-handed pitcher Jeremy Rogelstad was named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of Jan. 28 to Feb. 3. The honor was announced today by the conference office in Denver, Colo.

Rogelstad, a senior from Benicia, Calif. (Benicia HS), pitched eight shutout innings in the Spartans’ season opening 9-1 victory against Saint Mary’s. He gave up four hits, one walk and struck out three while not allowing more than one base runner in any inning.

Last season, Rogelstad earned the Pitcher of the Week honor twice. The first time he received the award was for the week on March 5-11 after tossing his second straight complete game in a 4-1 win over Illinois on March 10. His second award of the season came the week April 23-29 after he tossed a five-hit complete game shutout in a 5-0 win over TCU in the second game of a doubleheader.

The Spartans, 3-0 overall this season, will be back in action at Cal on Wednesday, Feb. 6 and will host a three-game series against Cal Poly from Feb. 8-10.
