College Station, Texas-----For the third time in the last four years, the Texas A&M University's Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics (LSIA) recognized San Jose State University's athletics department for meritorious accomplishments and performance among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and NCAA Division I members.

In its 2010 study focusing economically efficient athletics departments, San Jose State was rated among the top-30 of the 120 FBS programs.

LSIA's study measured the use of fiscal resources leading to championship victories. Schools that expended less money winning either a conference or national championship earned higher scores than institutions that spent more. During the 2009-10 academic year, San Jose State won the Western Athletic Conference regular season women's soccer championship and the women's golf conference tournament. Scores were tabulated for all FBS institutions for the second annual Excellence in Management Cup.

Previously, LSIA first honored San Jose State University in 2007 for its employee diversity in intercollegiate athletics. In 2008, SJSU one of 12 Division I athletics programs named tops nationally for overall diversity.

The Texas A&M University LSIA began researching topical issues connected with NCAA Division I athletics in 2003.
