San Jose State head coach George Nessman: In his first season at San Jose State. Has a record of 0-0 as a major college head coach. Nessman has 17 seasons as a head coach, seven at De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif (155-48) and eight at Porterville College (180-76) and two at Bakersfield College (24-32) with an overall head coaching record of 359-156.

Puget Sound coach Eric Bridgeland: In his fifth season as head coach of the Loggers. Has a coaching record of 69-34 at Puget Sound. Overall, Bridgeland is in his seventh season as a college coach and has a record of 92-60.

San Jose State Puget Sound series: On the court, San Jose State leads the series, 1-0. These teams met on November 27, 1982 in the 1982-83 season-opener for both teams. The Spartans posted a 71-62 victory ina game played at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. These teams have not faced each other in exhibition competition.
