San Jose State Linebacker Josh Parry Signs Free Agent Contract with the Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia, Pa. -- Josh Parry, the leading tackler on the San Jose State
University football team the last two seasons, is one of 16 players signed
Monday by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Parry, a four-year starter at inside or middle linebacker, was a
2000 second-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection. Last season, he
was credited with 122 tackles including 10 tackles behind the line of
scrimmage, four quarterback sacks and two interceptions. In the SMU game,
he returned an interception 54 yards for his one and only major college
touchdown.
The biology major from Sonora, Calif., tied for second in the WAC
in average tackles per game at 10.2. Named one of the Spartans' team
captains for 2000, he concluded his college career playing in the 2001 Hula
Bowl All-Star Game. The two-time District VIII academic All-America
selection also is a three-time academic All-WAC choice.
Parry becomes the second player from the 2000 football team
embarking on a National Football League career. Last Saturday, tight end
Sean Brewer was the third-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals.
