San Jose State University Athletics Director Chuck Bell Receives Five-Year Contract Extension
San Jose, Calif. (January 11) - Chuck Bell, athletics director at San Jose State University, has accepted a five-year contract extension from the university. The announcement was made by Dr. Robert L. Caret, President of San Jose State University.
Bell's contract extension runs through July 1, 2005.
"Chuck Bell is the right leader for SJSU athletics at this juncture in our history," said President Caret citing the overall success of the school's athletics programs, most notably in baseball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball and football.
The San Jose State University President also indicated Bell played a significant role in securing a $1-million leadership gift from the Koret Foundation toward the construction of a new strength, conditioning and rehabilitation facility to be named the Koret Athletic Training Center.
Bell came to the school in February, 1998 after five years as director of athletics at Utah State University. He also has 16 years of college athletics administration working eight years at the University of Wyoming and eight years at Colorado State University.
