San Jose State University Goes High-Tech with FanCard

Austin, TX - Do you know the way to San Jose? AIM Technologies, Inc. does! AIM is proud to announce that it is taking its FanCard program to San Jose State University. The Spartans have signed a two-year contract to use FanCard in three sports at its San Jose, California campus. Starting with the 1999 basketball season SJSU fans will be rewarded for coming to games. AIM's high-tech marketing program, which has proved highly successful in professional sports, will be used in football and women's and men's basketball. Other sports, such as volleyball and soccer may be added. Additionally, FanCard will be in place at its first bowl game, the Silicon Valley Classic, to be held following the 2000 football season.

FanCard helps both college institutions, including University of Texas in Austin, and professional sports teams to reward customers for their frequent attendance at events, while it provides the organizations with the means to identify their fans and collect information about what would make them attend more often. Based on a model similar to that used in frequent flyer programs, FanCard allows fans to collect points each time they attend a game and earn rewards upon reaching certain point levels. The more games FanCard holders attend, the more rewards they receive.

The FanCard program is simple. Fans join the program by completing an enrollment form that provides the team owner with basic fan demographic information, factors driving attendance, interests and other enjoyed activities. Once completed, the enrollment form is exchanged for a free FanCard. Members accumulate points by swiping their FanCard once per game at any one of several interactive kiosks located throughout the participating venue. At each kiosk session, FanCard holders receive day-of-event coupons AIM Technologies, Inc.

printed by the kiosk good for ticket, merchandise, concessions and other discounts in return for answering on-screen kiosk questions. These questions allow the participating team to conduct real-time market research on the make-up and preferences of its customer base.

Besides its university clients, AIM is associated with four major professional sports, including Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer and the National Hockey League. For a list of clients, see the attached fact sheet. Each program has experienced terrific success to date both in terms of fan acceptance and team benefits. For instance, baseball's Oakland A's increased ticket revenue by more than $1,000,000 from use of the FanCard program in 1999. Other teams report similar success.

"Our association with San Jose State University allows AIM to continue its expansion into the collegiate sports market, tapping into the intense loyalty of college athletics. FanCard has proven to be an invaluable marketing tool for the professional sports organizations with which we are involved. It has helped create a comprehensive customer database for each and has allowed them to engage in more targeted, more efficient, and ultimately more effective marketing campaigns. It is this success that has caught the attention of San Jose State University, and we have no doubt the Spartans will enjoy these same benefits with FanCard."
