Stacy Martin Elevated To Senior Associate AD / COO

Stacy Martin will now serve the department as Senior Associate Athletics Director / Chief Operating Officer.

 

San Jose State Director of Athletics Tom Bowen has promoted Stacy Martin to Senior Associate Athletics Director / Chief Operating Officer. Martin also will serve as the department's Senior Woman Administrator.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

“It is with great professional pride that I promote Stacy Martin,” said Bowen. “She is a dynamic young professional and a rising force in collegiate athletics administration. We are very fortunate to have someone of her ability on our staff.”

 

Having served the university in increasingly progressive and vital administrative roles, she recently was the Associate Athletics Director for Business and Finance.  For two full years and part of a third, Martin had fiscal oversight for the department's annual budget that includes 16 sports, 28 departments and 115 employees. In a first for the Spartans, <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>San JoseState finished each of the last three academic years with a budget surplus.

 

Martin's professional career started as a San JoseState ticket office employee in 2002. She moved to the business office in January 2003 and was promoted to Athletics Business Manager in 2004. In 2006, she was named an associate athletics director.

 

Martin is a member of NACDA (National Association of College Directors of Athletics), CABMA (College Athletic Business Management Association), Beta Gamma Sigma (International Honors society for studies in Business), WISC (Women In Sports Careers), NACWAA (National Association Of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators) and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

Additionally, Martin is a graduate of the Sports Management institute a collaboration of the Universities of Southern California, Notre Dame and North Carolina. The Sports Management Institute provides a specialized executive management program for sports management professionals.

At the conference level, Martin is San JoseState's representative on the Western Athletic Conference finance, championships, gender equity and code book committees.

 

A four-time letterwinner and former captain of the Spartan women's gymnastics team, Martin has bachelors and master's degrees from San JoseStateUniversity. The 2002 graduate majored in business administration and corporate financial management.  She earned an M.B.A. in finance in 2005.  While an undergraduate, Martin was recognized by "Who's Who Among Students" for her scholarship, leadership and service to the campus and community.
