Emmy Belding has been named the Spartan Foundation Athlete of the Week for her efforts for the Spartan women’s soccer team last week against nationally-ranked Santa Clara and California.

In just her second Division I match, Belding scored the Spartans only goal against the Golden Bears to tie the match at 1-1, before Cal won 3-1.  Belding took four shots, all on goal, and scored on her first attempt in the 51st minute.  She stole the ball and ripped a shot into the upper left corner for her goal.

San Jose State plays two matches this week at UC Davis on Friday and hosts Seattle on Sunday at 1 p.m., at Spartan Stadium.
