Christopher Owens intercepted two Fresno State passes to help San Jose State defeat the Bulldogs, 24-14, and give the Spartans their best finish in 11 season in the Western Athletic Conference. The team tied for third with Nevada with a 5-3 WAC mark.

Owens intercepted his first pass of the game in the first quarter. On the Bulldogs' first offensive play, Fresno State quarterback Tom Brandstater attempted a long throw down the middle that was intercepted by Owens and returned 19 yards to the Bulldog 29. The Spartans then scored six plays later to take a 14-0 lead.

Owens’ second interception came in the fourth quarter with under three minutes remaining. He returned that interception 29 yards. For the game, Owens had five tackles, (3 solo, 2 assists) and one pass breakup. He also ranks 43rd nationally in interceptions at 0.33 per game.
