Caitlin Macky has been named the Spartan Foundation Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance for the women’s swim team this past Saturday.
Macky tallied a team-high 22 individual points and aided in 11 relay points to lead San Jose State to its eighth straight dual meet victory to begin the 2010 calendar year and conclude the regular season, 172-122, over Western Athletic Conference rival Fresno State on Saturday, February 6, at Clovis North Aquatics Complex.
Macky began her day by swimming the 50-yard butterfly leg (26.85) of the Spartans' first-place 200 medley 'A' relay (1:48.53). She then finished second behind Bulldog Britney Vogel (1:05.89) in 1:06.63 in the 100 breaststroke race. The junior finished her day by defeating the competition first in the 200 breast (2:23.48) by over a second, and then the 200 individual medley (2:10.73). She was one of two Spartans and four participants on the day to win a pair of individual events.
