Raylyn Cardeno is this Spartan Foundation Student Athlete of the Week for her performances last week for the women’s gymnastics team in a meet against Southern Utah on February 16.

Cardeno won the vault with a career-best 9.875. Her score also helped the Spartan vault team set a new school record with a 49.025, which is the first time in school history that a vault team has scored a 49.000 or better in a meet. She has scored a 9.800 or better in five of the six Spartan meets this season. Cardeno currently ranks tied for 37th nationally and seventh in the west region on the vault with a 9.800 regional qualifying score.

San Jose State is now 8-1 on the season and hosts the final home meet of the season this Friday, February 22, against UC Davis. It will be the last chance to see Cardeno and the six other seniors perform for the final time in Spartan Gym.
