Sarah Taylor has been named the Spartan Foundation Athlete of the Week for her performances last week for the San Jose State softball team that went 3-1 on the week.

For the week, Taylor hit .500 with seven hits in 14 at bats and scored four runs. She begins the week with a four-game hitting streak, her longest of the season, after recording at least one hit in every game last week. Taylor was perfect from the field with seven putouts and an assist.

Against Sacred Heart, she knocked in the game-winning run and added two more RBI and scored twice. Taylor was 3-for-4 from the plate with a triple and a stolen base. In a win over Riverside, Taylor had a hit, runs scored and an RBI.

At Pacific on Saturday, Taylor was 1-for-1 in game one with a run scored and recorded three walks. In game two, she had two hits in four at bats and a stolen base.

For the season, Taylor leads the team in at bats with 104, triples with three and stolen bases at eight.

San Jose State continues at home this week with a doubleheader against Northern Colorado this Wednesday at 12 p.m. The Spartans then open Western Athletic Conference play with three games this weekend against Louisiana Tech. The two teams will play a single game Friday at 3 p.m., and a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. All games will be played at SJSU Field.
