Thomasina Wallace has been named the Spartan Foundation Student Athlete of the Week for her performances and honors received last Saturday evening at the 2009 Western Athletic Conference Women’s Gymnastics Championships.

Wallace is the first Spartan to win an event at the WAC Championships as she won the floor with a 9.900. She was also a first team All-WAC selection on bars with a 9.875. Wallace was named to the second team in the all-around with a 38.750.

For her efforts this season, Wallace was named the WAC Freshman of the Year as selected by a vote of the conference’s head coaches. Wallace was a four-time WAC Gymnast of the Week honoree. She scored a 9.900 in three events this season vault, bars and beam, and holds two of the top-three all-around scores in school history.

After finishing fourth at the WAC Championships, San Jose State next competes at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday, April 4, at the University of Washington. The meet begins at 6 p.m.
