Erica Moston has been named the Spartan Foundation Student-Athlete of the Week for her performances at the NCAA West Regional last weekend which earned her a trip to the NCAA Championships May 20-23 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Moston shot a one-under 71 this past Saturday afternoon and finished tied for 13th place with a two-over 218. With her finish, she earned the second individual position to play at the championships from the non-qualifying teams at the regional.
On Saturday, Moston recorded six birdies in her round and moved from 21st after two rounds to her final placing of 13th. She birdied five of the first nine holes including holes 6 through 8 at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Her last birdie came on the 17th hole.
The Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Moston is the first Spartan to participate at the NCAA Championships since Ashley Gomes competed as an individual in 2004.
