Jay Myers has been named the Spartan Foundation Student Athlete of the Week for the his performances last week for the men’s golf team at the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational.

In only his third collegiate tournament, Myers birdied four of his final six holes for a third-round 69 and tied for fourth place individually. He was the top finishing freshman at the tournament with a nine-under 207. Myers, a freshman from San Jose and Branham High School, shot a season-best five-under par 67 in the second round of the tournament.

San Jose State next plays at Kauai Collegiate Invitational. The three-round tournament begins on Monday, November 3.
