Name: Nicole Irwin
Sport: Women's Soccer

Irwin scored three goals, including two game-winners, and added one assist in leading San Jose State to its first 2-0 conference start since joining the WAC in 1996. After missing the game at third-ranked Santa Clara on Wednesday, the junior scored the first two goals and assisted on the third in a 3-0 home win over Boise State in the Spartans' conference opener on Friday night.
The Dublin, Calif. native scored an unassisted goal in the 28th minute on a 25-yard shot that sailed over the goalkeeper's head to open up the scoring and then added a 73rd-minute goal on a first-time shot from just outside the penalty box into the corner of the net off a feed from Roxy Kamal. Irwin's corner kick was headed in by Jackie Zabek in the 83rd minute to cap the scoring and give Irwin her second assist of 2006.
Irwin notched the lone goal in a 1-0 win at Idaho on Sunday, shooting into the left corner following a cross from the right-side in the 25th minute. The goal was her team-leading fourth of the year, with three being game-winners. Irwin now has four game-winners in her Spartan career and leads the team in total points with 10.
For the week, Irwin produced three goals and one assist for a total of seven points.
Irwin is the first Spartan women's soccer player to earn Spartan Foundation Student-Athlete of the Week honors on the year.
