Nina Butera has been named the Spartan Foundation Student-Athlete of the Week after her performance last week for the women's soccer team.

Butera earned her third consecutive victory in goal for San Jose State in a 1-0 double-overtime triumph over UC Davis last Friday night at Spartan Stadium. She played every minute of the match in goal, 100:34, and made a single-game season-high seven saves on 18 shots faced.

Butera and the Spartan defense held UC Davis scoreless. The Aggies were number-10 in the West Region, 4-0-1 before the match and sixth nationally in scoring.

Butera enters the week ahead having not allowed a goal in her past 165:47 played. For her accomplishment, she was also named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time.

The women's soccer team (3-4) plays two home matches this week. The squad hosts Notre Dame de Namur on Tuesday at 7 p.m., and Air Force Friday at 7:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at Spartan Stadium.
