Student-Athlete of the Week - Sept. 28, 2009
Lamon Muldrow
Name: Lamon Muldrow
Sport: Football
Year: Junior
Position: Running Back
Muldrow rushed for 184 yard on 20 carries and scored a touchdown in San Jose State's 19-9 win over Cal Poly last Saturday. He single-handedly rushed for more than three times the Spartans' rushing total for the first three games combined.
In the fourth quarter, Muldrow ripped off runs of seven and 71 yards and capped the four-play, 80-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.
His rushing total was the most by a Spartan since the 2006 season when Yonus Davis rushed for 184 yard in a win over Stanford. Muldrow is also the first San Jose State rusher to average over 9.0 yards per carry and gain at least 150 yard in a game since 2006 when Davis averaged 15.3 yards per carry against Louisiana Tech.
The Spartan football team has a week off before returning to Spartan Stadium for Homecoming on October 10, against Idaho. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. Tickets are available for the game by contacting the Spartan Ticket Office at (408) 924-SJTX (7589).
