Senior Ismael Ibarra led the Spartans on offense this weekend with two goals.  The forward tallied his first goal of the weekend in San Jose State’s 3-0 shutout of UC Riverside on Sept. 16.  Ibarra notched the final goal of the game on a long pass from classmate Savio Carrijo.

Ibarra’s second goal of the weekend came against the No. 20 UC Irvine Anteaters.  The senior scored the first goal of the game for the Spartans, sparking an offensive charge that sent the game into overtime.  

The two goals of the weekend tie Ibarra for the most on the team with three.  The forward has a total of six points on the season.

The San Jose State men’s soccer team hosts non-conference rival No. 6 Santa Clara in the 2007 home opener this Thursday, Sept. 19. This will be the second match-up between the two schools in the 2007 Rivalry Series. The Broncos currently lead 3-0 following a victory over the San Jose State women’s soccer team. The show down is set for 7:00 p.m. in Spartan Stadium.
