Dwight Lowery
Name: Dwight Lowery
Sport: Football
Year: Junior
Position: CB
Lowery recorded three interceptions in the Spartans' 17-7 win over Cal Poly last weekend. The Santa Cruz, Calif. native helped the team improve to 2-1 for the first time since the 2000 season. The junior cornerback tied the school record for interceptions in a game and is the sixth Spartan to intercept three passes in a game.
Lowery added four tackles, one solo and three assisted, 42 yards of return on the interceptions, and one pass break-up. Lowery's first two interceptions came in the second quarter and the third happened in the third quarter.
With his performance on Saturday, Lowery now leads the nation in pass interceptions with five in three games. The Spartan corner has intercepted at least one pass in each of the team's first three games.
Lowery joins teammate Yonus Davis as Spartan football players who have earned the Spartan Foundation Student-Athlete of the Week honor in 2006.
