Nick Cukar has been named the Spartan Foundation Student-Athlete of the Week after helping lead the San Jose State men’s soccer team to a 2-0 record during the opening weekend of the 2007 season.
Cukar, a sophomore midfielder, scored two unassisted goals for the Spartans on the weekend. He scored the game-winning goal in the Spartans first match of the season, a 2-1 win over Charlotte.
His second goal of the year came against Davidson on Sunday. Cukar gave the Spartans the early 1-0 lead with a goal on a mishandled corner kick in the 30th minute of play.
For his efforts over the weekend, Cukar was named to the Davidson adidas Classic All-Tournament team.
