Burke accomplished a feat Friday night that no other Spartan setter had reached in her career. She recorded a triple-double against Saint Mary’s. In the match, Burke had 40 assists, 15 digs and a career-high 10 kills. She is just the seventh player in the San Jose State record books to record a triple-double and only the 11th time in school history that this feat has been recorded.
In her next match, Burke added a double-double against Sacramento State with 48 assists and 11 digs. She also tied her career-high for blocks in the match with three block assists.
For her efforts, Burke was named to the Sacramento State Invitational All-Tournament Team and the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
With her 146 assists this weekend, Burke entered the San Jose State career assist list. She is now ninth with 1,487 assists in 36 matches played.
San Jose State plays at the Four Points Sheraton LAX/LMU Volleyball Classic this Friday and Saturday. The team plays UC Irvine on Friday and Loyola Marymount and Pittsburgh on Saturday.
